these relate to specific careers and college majors. You will complete personality and interest
surveys, Student Information Profile, and a Resume.

credentials, and expectations. You will use tools such as the College “right fit” Search to help
find colleges. Carefully planned visits to these “candidate” colleges are vital in identifying
colleges you will apply to.
4. COLLEGE APPLICATIONS (including essay and Test Prep)
Selecting the colleges you will apply to, then applying to each with confidence, focusing on
deadlines, test results, essays, and letters of recommendation. You will understand such
concepts as leveraging, admissions options, and evaluating offers. Prepare for interviews and
college visits, make extracurricular and volunteer activies work for you.
5. SCHOLARSHIPS / FINANCIAL AID
This step is vital when selecting your “right fit” college. You and your family can make college
more affordable by: A) searching for merit/talent scholarships, B) searching for private donor
and local scholarships, C) understanding the steps and related strategies for obtaining low-cost
education loans, need-based scholarships, grants, and other types of aid, D) learning how to
impact and evaluate scholarships and financial aid offered by colleges.
Selecting a college is among the most
important decisions in your life. Your decisions
affect career direction, college success, and
the costs of college education. Developing a
college plan will help you and your family make
better-informed college decisions.
